O'level: 5 O'level credits to include English Language, Government/History/Social Studies and 3 other subjects with at least a pass in maths obtained at not more than two sittings.
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third Class degree or a minimum of Upper Credit in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution.
Master's Degree (MSc): The candidate must have a first degree in Sociology with an FCGPA of not less than 3.0 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University. A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sociology with an FCGPA of not less than 3.50 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree: A candidate who holds a master's degree in Sociology with an FCGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 60%, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirement is satisfied.
The department also offers a Professional Masters in Social Policy (MSP): O'level — five credit passes including English Language and any four subjects obtained at not more than two sittings. The candidate must have a first degree in any discipline with an FCGPA of not less than 3.0 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University.
