Philosophy and objectives:
- To ground the students in the principles and methods of Sociological/Anthropological investigations of human behavior with emphasis on the socio-cultural influence in a technologically developing society.
- To give students an initial training in different specialization/professional areas of sociology that will enable them seek and appreciate careers as sociologists in such applied fields as industry and commerce, the police, the court, prisons’ and government establishments etc.
- To equip students with the relevant knowledge and skills that will enable them recognize the changing nature of the Nigerian Society so that they can be in a position to contribute to the solution of her many problems.
